FOUNDATION FOR APPOQUINIMINK SCHOOLS SCHOLARSHIP
Interested applicants must meet the following criteria as well as submit all documentation below:
a. Graduating senior of a high school within the Appoquinimink School District
b. Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above
c. Must have been involved in an extracurricular activity for a minimum of 3 years while attending high school
d. Must have participated in 100 hours of community service accumulated throughout 4 years of high school
e. Must complete the FAS Scholarship application
f. Essay required
g. Letter of recommendation from high school teacher, education counselor and/or community board member associated with volunteer services organization
h. Letter of acceptance from an accredited 2 year or 4year college or any post-secondary institution
i. Documentation or letter stating need for financial assistance

“Engineering 101” event @ the University of Delaware
Who: Alpha Omega Epsilon (the University of Delaware’s Engineering and Technical Sciences Sorority) and UD’s Society of Women Engineers would like to invite any interested female seniors or juniors to come visit UD. Specifically, this is for those of you who have an interest in the math or science fields or are just not sure what you would like to study in college.
Why: To familiarize you with the University of Delaware and what the Engineering Departments have to offer.
When: Friday, May 4th from 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
What:
· A tour of the University of Delaware
· An opportunity to see inside of the Engineering buildings
· A question and answer session with current female engineering students
· A miniature workshop to give a hands-on approach to engineering
· Information session given by an engineering faculty member
· Free lunch!

SMART Start to Research Techniques
SMART Start to Research Techniques is 2-week, half day summer experience gives high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while learning about research techniques used in the fields of biology, chemistry, and biotechnology. The summer experience will be held at Delaware Tech's Stanton campus on July 16-20 & July 23-27 at 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
This program is free for students not seeking college credit. For students interested in receiving college credit, a payment of $124.25 (the cost of tuition and fees) will be required. Please note that space is limited and preference will be given to students seeking college credit. Any student that qualifies for free or reduced school lunches is
eligible for a scholarship allowing them to take this course for free.
The School Day SAT- rescheduled to Thursday, April 26th
Students who cannot take the test on Thursday, April 26th can make-up the test on Saturday, June 2nd at AHS.
Last Student Day is a full day

Course Verifications
Middle and High School students received a copy of the courses they requested for the 2012-2013 school year. Students were asked to review their course requests with their parent/guardian, make any necessary changes on the form, and have their parent/guardian sign the form (even if the student does not want to make any changes). Students should return their course selections forms to their homeroom teacher or counselor. April 17th is the last day for Middle School course request changes and April 18th is the last day for High School changes. Course requests are also available to view in the Home Access Center, under Schedule. Schedules will be created over the summer. An Alert Now message will be sent when schedules are available to view in the Home Access Center.
